BREAKING NEWS
- Paddle Victoria confirm that paddling is exercise during the lockdown
- Members again have an opportunity to borrow club boats (conditions apply- see below)
- Private boat owners can arrange to collect their boat from the clubhouse
2020 is already feeling like a very long year but winter is now behind us and spring is here! And if you live close to some suitable water, here is some news to cheer you up even more!
Just one day after we learned how the stay-at-home restrictions will ease over the coming months, we had some great news today – Paddle Victoria has confirmed that paddling is allowable exercise.
After directly communicating to active members a few weeks ago to advise we could not paddle, Paddle Victoria has posted this message on their website today.
GREAT NEWS!!!
Paddle Victoria has been advised by COVID Directions (COVID-19 Public Health Division, Department of Health and Human Services) that paddling has been approved within the scope of exercise for Stage 4 Restrictions (advised on 7 September 2020, Transcript ID# 158 123)
Paddlers will still need to comply with the published restrictions of social distancing, masks, limiting travel to 5km and limiting exercise time to 1 hour (until next Sunday where the time limit is increased to 2 hours)

Sadly, we are still unable to open the clubhouse because all community sporting facilities must be closed under the current restrictions, and unfortunately during the next step too.
Members’ boat collection
If you have a private boat stored in the clubhouse and want to collect it, please come at 10.30 am this Saturday.

Club Boat loans
In order to support members who do not own their own boat the club is again offering to lend a club boat and paddle to any member who can fulfil the following criteria.
- Has suitable paddling experience (to be tested by a committee member when collecting boat if unknown}
- Has an appropriate car, racks and cradles to transport the boat
- Has a secure, undercover storage area to keep the boat
- Will paddle on flatwater only
There will be a $500 deposit to borrow a boat. The deposit will be refunded when the boat is returned in the same condition. If providing the deposit creates financial hardship, please contact Candice via email.
It will be ‘first in first on the water’…so if you are interested in borrowing a boat please complete the details on this form
Stay safe everyone
