This summer’s learn-to-paddle program is taking enrolments

INCC Yarra Paddlers’ popular learn-to-paddle course is on again this summer.

The course has been developed for people with little or no experience in flatwater kayaks and provides a safe, supportive environment to gain the balance and practice skills to paddle faster and more efficiently. Participants generally learn in TK1 boats, which are the most stable flatwater boats…but are significant ‘tippier’ than sea kayaks or recreational craft. The course is great way to transition from holiday experiences to regular paddling and new friends on our beautiful Yarra-Birrarung river as the club offers participants a four week trial membership at the conclusion of the course.

The group course is delivered over three 2-hour sessions, usually a week apart, led by qualified instructors. All equipment is provided. The sessions cover basic skills (like getting in/out of the boat), developing balance, efficient paddling technique and recovering from a capsize. The aim is that by the end of the course, participants will be safe, independent paddlers having fun!
