Martin Hunter

Martin Hunter competed in the 1988 Seoul and 1992 Barcelona Olympics, earning his best result – seventh in the K-1 500 m event at Seoul. He was the first-ever Australian Sprint World Champion in 1989.

Martin competed in World Sprint Championships in 1987 (Germany. 9th MenK2 10,000m), 1989 (Bulgaria. 1stMenK1 500m, 8th MenK1 1,000m, 18th MenK1 10,000m), 1990 (Poland 3rd MenK1 500m), 1991 (France, 6th place MenK1 500m), 1993 (Denmark 9th MenK2 500m, 8th MenK2 1,000m) 1994 (Mexico 3rd MenK2 500m, 1995 ( Germany 8th MenK2 200m, 7th MenK2 500m).

Martin was an INCC Committee member 1989-1991 before moving to his wife’s home country, Sweden to be the head coach of the national team. He still lives in Sweden.
