The rising number of COVID infections in Melbourne has necessitated another period of lockdown. Sadly, we will have to close the clubhouse again from midnight July 8 for the duration of the lockdown.
The level 3 restrictions mean that you cannot paddle with more than one other person from outside your household and you cannot travel outside the Greater Melbourne area for exercise.
If you want to use your own boat during this period, please try to collect it today from the clubhouse. If that is not possible, please send Debbie a text on 0418 562 617?.
It goes without saying that this will be a tough few weeks for everyone in Melbourne. Our Yarra Paddlers community returned to the river in force over recent weeks to herald the emergence of the wattle, so please take advantage of the opportunity to collect your own boat or borrow a club boat and stay on the look-out for emails for updates.
Club Boat loans
In order to support members who do not own their own equipment the club is offering to lend a boat, paddle and provide a PFD to any member who can fulfil the following criteria:
- Has suitable paddling experience (to be tested by a committee member when collecting boat if unknown)
- Has an appropriate car, racks and cradles to transport the boat
Has a secure, undercover storage area to keep the boat - Will paddle on flatwater only
There will be a $500 deposit required to borrow a boat. The deposit will be refunded when the boat is returned in the same condition. If providing the deposit creates financial hardship, please contact Candice on 0431 106 081.
A ballot will be conducted if too many applications are received. If you are interested in borrowing a boat please complete the details on this form as soon as possible.
